From November through June every year the galleries of the burgeoning art district in San Jose del Cabo open their doors from 5pm to 9pm every Thursday to welcome art lovers and those who are merely curious. A wonderful way to spend a warm evening is to stroll around the attractive area just behind the main square and church, popping into any of the many galleries to view the artwork which includes paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and jewelry. You may also choose to have a glass of wine while perusing the exhibits, and after the wine you may want to dine, and fortunately the neighborhood is full of excellent restaurants. The artwork on display includes works by local, national, and international artists. Galleries often have special events, such as exhibits of new works by a particular artist or actually having an artist in the gallery to discuss his or her work. San Jose del Cabo is known for its flourishing arts scene and many of the local pieces of art reflect the beautiful striking colors for which Mexico is so famous. Each of the galleries on the walk has its own distinctive character and all of them are attractive buildings and spaces which enhance this charming cultural experience. Blend the pleasures of sun, sand, and surf with the aesthetic pleasures of an enchanting art walk around the best galleries in town.
